The Band
NewDad are a indie/alternative band founded in Galway in 2018
Julie Dawson, Áindle O'Beirn and Fiachra Parslow originally founded the band while studying at Colaiste Iognaid

History
The band was founded by Julie Dawson, Áindle O'Beirn and Fiachra Parslow in 2018 while studying at Colaiste Iognáid
They founded the band to avoid solo performances for their leaving certificate music exam!
Sean O'Dowd, who was studying music technology in Limerick, began recording the band, before eventually becoming a full member
The band quickly grew in popularity following the release of 5 singles in 2020. One of these singles, "Blue", is where I first heard the band
Other notable moments:
- On 5 November 2020, the group recorded a live session for Steve Lamacq's show on BBC 6 Music
- Waves, their debut EP, was released in March 2021
- Madra, their debut album, was released in January 2024
- Altar, their latest album, was released in September 2025
